Event Details

In 2024, Dr. Vivek Murthy, the 19th and 21st Surgeon General of the United States, issued an advisory on the mental health and well-being of parents titled "Parents Under Pressure." This Surgeon General's Advisory highlights the stressors that impact the mental health and well-being of parents and caregivers, the critical link between parental mental health and children's long-term well-being, and the urgent need to better support parents, caregivers, and families. The library is partnering with the PTA and the Voorheesville School District to provide an open exchange of thoughts, ideas, and possible solutions to the ongoing discussion of stressors that modern parents and caregivers face. The discussion will be held in the LGI room and facilitated by Claire Marcus, middle and high school psychologist and Kristen Heyde, high school counselor. In preparation for the conversation, please read "Parents Under Pressure: The U.S. Surgeon General's Advisory on the Mental Health & Well-Being of Parents" - https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/parents-under-pressure.pdf    For parents, caregivers, teachers or any interested adult. Please register.
